Stucco explained

Stucco is a cement-based exterior plaster applied in layers over lath or masonry. It is durable and long lasting, but it is rigid, so it cracks with movement, and cracks admit water. Water behind stucco can rot wood framing, rust lath, and cause the finish to separate. Proper stucco repair starts by finding the cause, which may be failed flashing, roof drainage, or a gap at a window, rather than patching the symptom. Repairs involve cutting out loose material, fixing the substrate, and applying new coats to match the existing texture. Sound but cracked stucco may only need patching and a new finish coat.

Can you match my existing stucco?

How do I know if there is water behind my stucco?
